Job summary

Scientists and Engineers at Hycrete perform diverse activities of interest to the company.The focus of this particular position will be to design, oversee, and report laboratory and field activities in the areas of waterproofing and green construction materials.Experimental efforts are devoted to basic chemical formulations and evaluation of these in mortar and concrete.Position is based at Hycrete’s Carlstadt, NJ Headquarters.Some field work will also be required in new product development trials and in support for Hycrete Technical Service efforts.All Hycrete co-owners are expected to contribute to a safe and environmentally sound working environment and to attain corporate goals as part of a team oriented job setting.

Summary of essential job functions

Concrete and Mortar Laboratory

§Oversees and contributes to performance of laboratory and field experiments evaluating the properties of cement-based mixes in both plastic and hardened states.Experiments occur at Hycrete’s Carlstadt Laboratories and at remote sites when applicable.

§Assess competitive materials and technologies.

§Analyzes data and prepares it for presentation to supervisors.Data is occasionally presented to other Hycrete, Inc. departments and customers.

§Contributes ideas to improvement of methods and technologies of interest to Hycrete, Inc.

Chemical Laboratory

§Formulates prototype chemical mixtures by mixing and simple chemical reactions.

§Performs Quality Control measurements on Hycrete manufactured products.

§Performs chemical measurements by wet and instrumental methods on experimental and commercial mixtures of Hycrete admixtures for research and quality control purposes.

§Oversees safety program for laboratory and ensures safe operations with chemicals.

§Supports in-house blending with calculations and measurements.

Field Technical Service Interface

§Perform work on customer sites with Hycrete Field Technical Service Department to run field trials relating to new product development activities (laboratory to market transitions).

§Assist Hycrete Field Technical Service Department on standard jobsite activities in a secondary role.This includes product monitoring and contributing to concrete repair efforts.

Minimum requirements

§Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemistry, materials science, or engineering.

§Useful experience might include employment at a testing laboratory, precast or ready-mix quality control department, admixture company, chemical laboratory, or a new product development laboratory.Hycrete, Inc. is willing to train a new graduate for this position.

§Computer literate in Windows based operating systems including programs Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Abilities required

§Physically capable of moving potentially heavy aggregates and equipment with assistance of tools.Ability to occasionally stand on feet for long periods of time.

§Valid driver’s license.

§Legal right to work in the United States.

§Ability to work occasional irregular schedules.
