Nelson H. Macalintal, BSCE
Nelson Macalintal graduated from Adamson University, Manila Philippines with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Before immigrating to the United States Mr. Macalintal worked in various management capacities in concrete building construction including positions with CMJ Realty Corp., Lemans Management System Inc., Foundation Specialist Incorporated, and Shasta Concrete Systems.
While managing Shasta Concrete Systems as a Technical Services Manager for 11 years, he fully developed his knowledge of waterproofing Systems and in particular integral waterproof concrete construction. His team oriented design approach helped develop successful waterproofing Systems used in buildings under extreme exposure conditions including structures many stories below grade and below sea level.
In 2001 Mr. Macalintal was recruited by Glacier Northwest Inc. in Seattle WA to bring his expertise to their efforts at introducing hydrophobic concrete to the U.S. market. Mr. Macalintal has been instrumental in nurturing the growing North American movement away from membrane based Systems to the use of hydrophobic concrete construction.
Mr. Macalintal's broad exposure to waterproofing challenges, internationally and domestically, has culminated in his recognition as a leading technical authority on hydrophobic concrete construction techniques.
