The foundation of Hycrete, Inc.’s proprietary technology goes back to the early 1950’s when one of Hycrete, Inc.’s inventors, Michael S. Rhodes, developed a class of rust inhibitors. Michael Rhodes also worked closely with NASA on programs such as the development of solid rocket fuels (for which he received an award at the launch of the Titan 3C rocket booster), the heat shield for the Apollo series, and an ablative thermal insulation used to keep the tiles of the aileron flaps on the wings of the Space Shuttle Columbia. In addition, Michael Rhodes developed innovations and products for the military that are used in ablative and intumescent coatings, carbon on carbon rocket nozzles, and syntactic foams for submarine protection.

In the mid 90’s, Mr. Rhodes' focus shifted back to corrosion technology development, and he invented a water stable, environmentally safe, and soluble version of the precursor products from the 1950s.
