David founded what is now Hycrete, Inc. in 2002, when he joined his family’s specialty chemical company. His family has been involved in inventing and manufacturing novel specialty chemicals for over 35 years. David spun Hycrete, Inc. off from his family’s business in 2005 with a government grant and capital from a private equity firm. David still works closely with his family in both research and development and manufacturing. David is a leader in sustainable construction. He was an active participant of the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos Switzerland. There he facilitated a discussion on Sustainability and Design and participated in the Governors Meeting on Engineering and Construction. At the World Economic Forum’s regional meeting in Egypt David moderated a panel discussion on Greening our Cities. In 2008 David was the Moderator of a Panel Discussion for US Senator Cantwell’s Think Tank on Adoption and Investment in Cleantech. In 2008 David also spoke at Fortune’s Brainstorm Green event. He was also a panelist in a discussion of Green Construction at the 2008 Cleantech Conference in San Francisco. David is also a member of Cradle to Cradle’s Strategic Advisory Group. David is a member of the New Jersey Chapter of Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and a member of the New York Chapter of Entrepreneurs Organization (EO). He is also a member of the Friends of the Circular Economy for the China U.S. Center for Sustainability, the purpose of which is to bring sustainable technologies to China. David is a member of the Strategic Advisory Committee of Cradle to Cradle. He also been a member of the New York Athletic Club since 1995, and is a member of the Young Alumni Counsel for Columbia Business School. David is a periodic guest lecturer at ColumbiaBusinessSchool, NYU Stern School of Business and Seaton Hall Law School. David also is a regular speaker at cleantech, nanotech, construction, and concrete conferences. Born and raised in New York City, David attended Riverdale Country School growing up. He earned his Bachelors of Arts and Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). At UNC, he was Captain of the Varsity Fencing Team and First Team All-American in the NCAA Tournament, assisting in winning UNC the Prestigious Sears Cup in 1994. While in college David interned at the U.S. Senate where he became Head Senate Page. After Graduation, David worked as a financial analyst in the fixed income department of Paine Webber (now UBS Warburg). He later worked at Datek Securities, a financial firm that can arguably be credited for changing global financial exchanges by providing unprecedented liquidity and efficiency. Next David worked for the incubating venture capital firm BRM and their portfolio company IPHighway, which sold internet infrastructure software. David went on to earn his MBA in 2002 from Columbia Business School, where he was an officer of the Technology Club and worked to start up a failed Business to Business Internet company. During five years of David’s business career he has also been a member of the U.S. Fencing Traveling Team, representing the United States in international competition. He was a medalist in the 2004 London World Cup and has won three U.S. National Championship Team Gold Medals representing the New York Athletic Club and two Individual Silver Medals. As a member of the U.S. Team, he was a Bronze Medal winner in the team and individual events of the Maccabi Games in 1997. |
